God’s Divine Favor in Your Life and Work

God’s Divine Favor in Your Life and Work

God’s Divine Favor in Your Life and Work

You have been called by God to a specific task as a Christian entrepreneur, to a position of blessing and influence, of empowered leadership. And He has granted you His divine favor in this calling.

God's divine favor in your life and work

Seeking God’s Divine Favor in Your Life and Work is an intentional and purposeful endeavor!

He is our Firm Foundation!

In the National Association of Christian Women Entrepreneurs, it is our goal to provide a caring and connected community, expert education, networking opportunities, and encouragement to be missional (pay your blessings forward)! I am a teacher and a leader, so the educational element of our offerings takes priority for me; I admit it takes top billing sometimes at the expense of our other pillars!

Every year, we choose a theme of the year, then under that theme we choose sub-themes for each month, then under each month we seek 4-5 Christian Women Entrepreneurs who will present to us and encourage us under the monthly topic.

When we seek the Lord for His divine favor, we are always thrilled with the direction He gives.

For example, about 18 months in advance, I asked the Lord for His divine favor in planning and that very day He outlined the whole 2020 year of educational opportunities, and led me to Shae Bynes as our Keynote #2020NACWEConference Speaker!

As you can imagine, having those key offerings planned with conviction gave me the confidence and allotted time to move forward on other projects for our successful 2020!

Praise the Lord for His divine favor– His shield!

For you bless the righteous, O Lord;
    you cover him with favor as with a shield.
(Psalm 5:12)

In her chapter on “Divine Favor” from her book, “Grace Over Grind”, Shae states,

Divine (or supernatural) favor is a demonstration of God’s sovereignty and loving-kindness towards His children. It is a manifestation of blessing that is designed to help you and to help others extend the Kingdom of God on earth; an amazing benefit of working by God’s grace.

Receiving God’s Divine Favor in Your Life and Work is an intentional and purposeful endeavor!

He is our Firm Foundation!

At our weekly NACWE team meeting, I rejoiced with everyone about God’s clear direction for our 2020 educational year so many months in advance!

They were all excited and very encouraging. Some had additional input about the monthly themes. Danika asked if she could help by meeting on Zoom and brainstorming together about the monthly order of the topics, and about the possible weekly encouragements and presentations.

We asked the Lord for His divine favor, not expecting the whole year to be clarified. We met for about an hour, maybe even less, and He gave us clear direction for all 52 weeks of the year 2020!

I have always felt our educational opportunities were exceptional (since 2010), but I have to say that 2020 and our #2020NACWEConference were some of the most encouraging and informative times of learning and growing together so far–in spite of the pandemic challenges!

Praise the Lord for His Divine Favor! His Blessing!

Ask for God’s Divine Favor.
Invite God In.
Listen to and heed His instructions!

Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not disregard it. Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. For those who find me, find life and receive favor from the Lord.
Proverbs 8:33-35

Proverbs 8:33-35

HE IS SOVEREIGN!

We receive God’s divine favor because of who He is!

We receive His divine favor when we:

  1. Believe in His Sovereignty – He works all things according to the counsel of His Will (Ephesians 1:11);
  2. Accept His Favor with a surrendered will and heart – His favor is for a lifetime (Psalm 30:5);
  3. Move Forward as He reveals His Will to us – He establishes the work of our hands (Psalm 90:17;
  4. Express Gratitude to God (Colossians 3:17);
  5. Live a life of Mercy and Truth (Proverbs 3:4);
  6. Walk with Him blamelessly (Psalm 84:11);
  7. Listen to and Heed His instructions (Proverbs 8:33-35);
  8. Plant Seeds for opportunities for service (1 Peter 4:10);
  9. Share His Favor with others (Isaiah 61:1-2);
  10. Are diligent – Do not give up. (Galatians 6:9);
  11. Are humble (Colossians 3:12);
  12. REST in Him (Matthew 11:28-30 – Read this one in your favorite version and in The Message!);
  13. Are expectant – Trust Him to make straight your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6 & Psalm 32:8);

Again, Shea says,

The favor of God yields both material and spiritual benefits. It brings influence, divine appointments, divine connections, promotion, unusual preferential treatment from people, sudden breakthroughs, financial provision, redemption from missed opportunities; all of which you could not have done on your own, and all of which will ultimately glorify God in the eyes of others, and draw you into closer relationship with Him. With divine favor, things that would have taken you ten years to do in your business will be accomplished within months. You’ll find yourself sitting in key meetings that you normally would not have the credentials to be invited to. Things that would have otherwise been impossible are suddenly made possible.

In the first chapter, “God’s Empowering Grace” from her book “Grace Over Grind”, Shae begins,

You don’t have to strive endlessly to make things happen with the dream God placed on your heart for your business. You simply need God’s empowering presence, and everything else is going to flow from there.

Build Your House on the Rock

24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
(Matthew 7:24-27 ESV)

From The Passion Translation

24 “Everyone who hears my teaching and applies it to his life can be compared to a wise man who built his house on an unshakable foundation. 25 When the rains fell and the flood came, with fierce winds beating upon his house, it stood firm because of its strong foundation.

26 “But everyone who hears my teaching and does not apply it to his life can be compared to a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 When it rained and rained and the flood came, with wind and waves beating upon his house, it collapsed and was swept away,” or “and great was its fall!” (Matthew 7:24-27 TPT).

Again, Shea said,

You don’t have to strive endlessly to make things happen with the dream God placed on your heart for your business. You simply need God’s empowering presence, and everything else is going to flow from there.

Grace is that empowerment. It enables you to successfully do what God has called you to do and to do what you could never do on your own. It’s by God’s grace that you are able to do extraordinary things, have supernatural results, and eternal impact through your business.
Shae Bynes, Grace Over Grind: How Grace Will Take Your Business Where Grinding Can’t

We want to hear His Words and do what He says! We want the foundations of our life and work to be built upon the rock – an unshakable foundation!

Let’s rely on God’s empowering presence, on His Grace to do what He has called us to do in extraordinary ways with eternal impact in our lives and work. Build with God’s Empowering Grace as Your Firm Foundation. Begin with more of Him.

God is you CEE: Chief Executive of Everything

God is Your CEE: Invite Him In.
What Happens When God Is Not Your CEE.

I tried to be my own CEE… again! It didn’t turn out so well.

I decided to try Facebook Ads for our next big Membership Drive. I hired a reputable Ads specialist recommended by a trusted friend. We talked for an hour through several frustrations and felt we were getting nowhere!

She said I wasn’t ready. That hurt!

I finally had to admit to her that I hadn’t invited God into this plan as I should have. I promised her I would, and that I’d get back in touch when I had clear direction from the Lord.

The whole Membership Drive was put on hold.

I must have instinctively known I was on the wrong path, because my frustration didn’t really surprise me. I usually steamroll forward when I’m frustrated, and I was a bit frustrated about the time and energy spent and the lack of progress made so far.

But this time I actually felt relieved. I knew this redirection would ensure I was indeed on the right path and headed in the right direction. I knew it would save me precious time, energy and heartache!

In her introduction to the book Grace Over Grind, Shae Bynes states,

“…if your heart is to see the realities of the Kingdom in your business, your industry, your city or even the nations, it’s imperative that you create and maintain a lifestyle of working by God’s grace rather than by your grind. …(This is) an invitation to live and work by the grace that He has so lovingly provided

for you to experience His best in your business. Notice that I didn’t say your best, but rather His best. I’m talking about the Ephesians 3:20 kind of best; which is immeasurably more than all you can ask or imagine according to His power that is at work within you.”

– Shae Bynes, Grace Over Grind: How Grace Will Take Your Business Where Grinding Can’t.

If we truly desire to work under God’s Grace,
then God is Your CEE – Chief Executive of Everything.
He is Your Firm Foundation!

Believe it!
Invite Him in!
Pray for Spiritual Strength!

God is Your CEE: Pray To Your CEE For Spiritual Strength

14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family[c] in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of His glory He may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

God is Your CEE: Invite Him In.
What Happens When God Is Your CEE.

After my “getting nowhere” call with the Facebook Ads coach, I settled in to be still and quiet before the Lord, to read His Word, to ask Him for comfort through my frustrations and clear direction. It was obvious I was indeed not ready to launch within the next month, so I moved the Membership Drive forward a month. I felt the Lord gave me a really innovative idea for our “kick-off event” and everything started falling into place! Instead of “getting nowhere,” I felt like I was on the right path.

Knowing I invited God in and surrendered to His direction, and assured that I had heard from Him, I was relieved and encouraged and confident with a peace about my decisions and direction! Finally!

I’m a bit of a control freak! After all, I do have responsibilities toward my home, my family, and my business/ministry assigned to me by the Lord. I need the peaceful assurance that all dimensions of my life and work align with His ordered steps for me!

Meet with Him, your CEE. Invite Him in to every thought, decision, and step before you begin. Click To Tweet
  • As your Chief Executive Officer (CEO), God offers wisdom for future decisions. I need His Wisdom! James 1:5  says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”
  • As your Chief Operating Officer (COO), He provides structure and organization for daily actions. I want to know I’m taking the right steps! “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps” (Proverbs 16:9).
  • As your Chief Information Officer (CIO), He keeps lines of communication and technology open. I feel most confident when I am connected to Him and to others! Proverbs 19:4 says, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”
  • As your Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), God leads in development and functionality and growth and promotes your business/ministry to the ideal customer. I want to grow in all areas of my life and business/ministry! “Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress” (1 Timothy 4:15).
  • As your Chief Financial Officer (CFO), He bestows and directs cash flow! Not my forte’ – I’m an author and a coach, not an accountant. I need His help! Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
  • As your Chief Technology Officer (CTO), He is head of “Research and Development” and creates strategies toward a successful future! I struggle with the monumental number of steps and tasks needed to build my business/ministry. I need to know I have built from the Chief Cornerstone and all bricks are laid in order forging a secure foundation! “By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” (Proverbs 24:3-4).

God is your CEE – Chief Executive of Everything! Invite Him in!

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power [His Power] at work within us, 21 to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
Ephesians 3:20

Ephesians 3:20

Again, Shea says,

“Too many believers in business idolize hard work.
They exalt hard work over the presence of God in business.”

– Shae Bynes, Grace Over Grind: How Grace Will Take Your Business Where Grinding Can’t

It’s the way the world encourages us to work, isn’t it!?

So, let’s turn this on it’s head and work “as unto the Lord” and “in His Presence!”

I asked a friend to give me feedback before publishing this blog. I asked her question after question. “Am I representing the Lord as His Ambassador properly? Do you see my heart in the stories? Is it too long?”

She gently reminded me to Invite Him in and to ask my CEE these questions.

Join me, and invite your Chief Executive of Everything into all of your decisions!

Your Turn

Actions:

1. Post in a prominent place in your workspace:

God is able to do far more abundantly than all that I ask or think, according to His power at work within me

2. Purpose to start each week/each day with God’s Presence in your business/ministry at the forefront of your heart. What does that look like specifically for you?

3.  Spend 5 minutes asking the Lord specific questions about your business, and record His answers.

11 Tips For Everyday Gratitude – Part 2

11 Tips For Everyday Gratitude – Part 2

11 Tips For Everyday Gratitude – Part 2

So how did you do? Have you found practical ways to implement everyday gratitude in your life? If you missed the first five tips, check them out in part 1…

For review, the first five tips for everyday gratitude are:

  1. Be in the moment.
  2. Be specifically grateful.
  3. Stop comparing.
  4. Be friendly.
  5. Stop complaining.

Gratitude Practice Tip #6 – Forgive. Forgive. Forgive.

Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven.   Matt 18: 21-22

Nearly every time we are instructed to forgive, it comes along with a gentle reminder that we are greatly forgiven. Before we make an offering we are to forgive. Before we praise we are to forgive. And not just once. We are told to forgive the same offense over and over and over. Lest you think God doesn’t do the same for you, remind yourself of the things you struggle with and how many times you have made the same mistake. Over and over and over God forgives us. You do the same. And in all the forgiving you practice, don’t forget to include yourself. God has forgiven you, who are you not to forgive yourself?

Gratitude Practice Tip #7 – Be Still.

“Hear this, O Job; stop and consider the wondrous works of God.     Job 37:4

The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”      Exodus 14:14

We are busy all year long. The new year is busy. Then it’s Easter. Then it’s summer. Then school starts again and the next thing you know it’s Christmas. Busyness is not a new thing for the children of God. It was just different then. God knew we would be busy – too busy to be still. Yet stillness is when you listen. It is in the stillness when God talks to you. It is in the stillness when you meditate — that’s what is means to consider the wondrous works of God.

I am especially fond to the verse in Exodus. After all, isn’t it when we are in the most distress when we try to handle things on our own and in our own strength. It’s usually when we make the biggest messes. The Lord will fight for you, just be still, be silent. Watch Him work.

Gratitude Practice Tip #8 – Take note of small miracles.

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.      Matthew 10:29

Years ago there was a popular self-help/inspirational book titled “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff”. Around the same time another book came out called “God is in the Small Stuff.” While, I never read either of these books, the titles speak volumes.

God cares for the sparrows. He cares for and adorns the flowers of the field. He knows the number of hairs on your head. If these are not the small things, I don’t know what is. These are part of the small miracles. It may seem silly to take note of the discount you got on the pair of shoes you’ve been eyeing. If God cares about the number of hairs on your head, if He knows the desires of your heart, if He cares when you stand or sit, don’t you think He cares about the shoes on your feet? The small miracles include when you spouse doesn’t get upset about something as usual because you’ve been praying. These are the small miracles of which to be grateful.

Gratitude Practice Tip #9 – Write down the good stuff

Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul.      Psalm 66:16

We overcome (the hard stuff) by the Blood of Jesus Christ and the word of our testimony. We are supposed to talk about what God has done for us. Granted some of it is personal and we are not anxious to broadcast it, but write it down. Write it down to remind you about it. Write it down so when you are ready to share, you remember all that God has done for your soul. Write it down to share with the next generations. How else would we know of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob?

Gratitude Practice Tip #10 – Pray.

Pray without ceasing     1 Thessalonians 5:17

Listen, if you can worry without ceasing you can pray without ceasing. If you can complain endlessly, you can pray endlessly. It is just that simple. When you find yourself worrying – PRAY. When you find yourself complaining, grumbling, or being frustrated – PRAY. When you find yourself happy and content – PRAY.

Gratitude Practice Tip #11 – Praise.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods, for his steadfast love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords, for his steadfast love endures forever; to him who alone does great wonders, for his steadfast love endures forever; to him who by understanding made the heavens, for his steadfast love endures forever; …    Psalm 136:1-26

Admittedly, there are times when it feels super hard to praise. It feels like one of the most difficult things to do when you are in the middle of turmoil. Psalm 136 goes over reason after reason we should give thanks and praise. But, it boils down to one everlasting, unchangeable immovable truth – His steadfast love endures forever.

When there is no other reason to praise you count on this one thing – God’s love endures. No thing present, past or future can separate you from the love of God. No thing created, no thing under the sun will ever change the steadfast love of God.

In your practice of gratitude, don’t try to tackle all 11 tips. Start with just one or two and practice them for a month. Observe the way every day gratitude can impact your life, your attitude and your heart.

Blessings,

11 Tips for Everyday Gratitude – Part 1

11 Tips for Everyday Gratitude – Part 1

11 Tips for Everyday Gratitude – Part 1

Sometimes proverbs and platitudes can be helpful. For example, even a fool seems wise when he keeps his mouth shut. It’s pretty straightforward. Keep quiet and you will seem wise. But in this month of thanksgiving, there are so many cute little sayings about gratitude:

“Have an attitude of gratitude.”
“Start each day with a grateful heart.”
“Practice gratitude.”

or simply

Be grateful.

Whenever I hear things like this, I immediately think, “But, how?” I want practical steps on how to practice gratitude in my life. I realize it is important and I know there are times when a little gratitude for the situation I am in would go a long way. Job understood this when he said, “The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD (Job 1:21).”

Try out these 11 ideas when learning to practice thankfulness in your own life:

Gratitude Practice Tip #1 – Be in the moment.

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;                                                                                      James 1:19

We have all heard this verse and think it’s about keeping your temper. But I think there is more to learn here. If you are quick to hear it means you are listening. If you are slow to speak it means you are thinking about what to say. You can’t be a quick listener and a slow speaker if you are not in the moment.

Being in the moment is about not worrying about tomorrow or even the next moment. It is about staying present with the people you are with. When you are present and in the moment, that is when you are able to see and recognize things to be grateful about.

Gratitude Practice Tip #2 – Be specifically grateful.

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy.      Psalm 96:11-12

Over and over in Psalms and Proverbs we see how the praise is specific. In the gospels we learn God is concerned about the details. He notices the sparrow. He decorates the flowers of the field. When we practice being thankful we need to be specific. Not only does it help us realize how much we have to be thankful for, it’s also the way it’s done in the Bible.

There are times when I get aggravated with my husband. In those moments, I make a decision to be grateful. Instead of just saying, “Lord, thank you for my husband,” I start listing the things about his character I find so unique and for which I am grateful. This whole conversation takes place in my head. And, honestly, every time I do it, my attitude changes.

Gratitude Practice Tip #3 – Stop comparing.

As it is, there are many parts, yet one body.

 1 Corinthians 12:20

It is so easy to get into a place when you compare yourself to someone else. We tend to measure our success against another. We even compare the amount of stuff we have to someone else’s stuff. This is not a godly way of living.

You were intricately knitted together by God. He knew you specifically before you were even born (Psalm 139). To compare yourself or your life to another is to minimize the unique care and plan God has for you. Every part of the body is needed and serves a purpose. If you must compare, use the word of God as your reference. If you must compare, consider the person you were before salvation to the person you are now. These types of comparisons will naturally lead you to gratitude for all God has done for you.

Gratitude Practice Tip #4 – Be friendly.

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil.   Ecclesiastes 4:9

We are not meant to do this life alone. It’s why God created Eve. He needed a friend. You are not alone. In the struggles of daily life it is good to have a friend who can help you find your gratitude. In real life, times will be hard, you will need support. Being friendly also helps you get friends to experience your journey with you.

Gratitude Practice Tip #5 – Stop complaining.

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.     Ephesians 4:29

Complaining is absolutely corrupt talk. It does not build you up. It does not build anyone else around you up. It is not grace filled speech for those who can hear it. So, stop doing it. Just keep your mouth shut. Instead, start thinking about how and what you could be specifically thankful. Take that thing you want to complain about and find something, even if it’s small, for which to be grateful.

Gratitude is an everyday practice. Never stop praying. Never stop praising. Be grateful in all things.
