[Leadership] Strong Leadership Leads to LIFE!

[Leadership] Strong Leadership Leads to LIFE!

Strong Leadership Leads to LIFE!

If strong leadership leads to LIFE and GROWTH, then lack of strong leadership leads to death and stagnation. Are you a strong leader who contributes to and enhances life? Have you surrounded yourself with strong leaders who contribute to and enhance life? How do you do that?

Strong Leadership Leads to Life

Strong Leadership Leads to LIFE, not death!

In his Leadership Bible, John Maxwell quotes Church expert and statistician George Barna who asserts that “…the American church is dying due to lack of strong leadership… Nothing is more important than leadership.“ That’s a sobering thought! And I started wondering if it doesn’t also apply to the death and stagnation of other ministries, our ministries, and our businesses as entrepreneurs. If I’m honest, I can admit to you that one of my biggest fears is that I will remain stuck, or stagnant, and may not make a difference in the lives of other entrepreneurs as I grow in my entrepreneurial endeavors! It’s why I do what I do as the president of Karen Bourg Companies (http://karenbourg.com ), the {Inter} National Association of Christian Women Entrepreneurs, and the International Christian Mompreneur Network (http://nacwe.org ).

Strong Leadership Leads to LIFE – a Life with Passion!

I looked up LIFE in the thesaurus and found the following words – verve, vivacity, animation, energy, excitement, soul, kick, get-up-and-go, sparkle! I LOVE these words! I would also add GROWTH and PLUCK! These words add life and spark to my heart! They encourage me to live a life of passion as one being led, and as a leader.

I want to follow God‘s vision with passion! So do you! I want to follow the desires and passions that God has given me and His vision in the following areas:

B.E.L.I.E.F.S.:

B stands for Body:

E is for Emotion:

L is for Livelihood:

I is for Intellect:

E is for Environment:

F is for Family and Friends:

S is for Spiritual:

Take a moment to decide how you want to grow and follow the desires and passions that God has given you in these areas. What did you come up with? Share them with us here.

If you need extra help walking through and discovering these desires, download our free  B.E.L.I.E.F.S.  Assessment here:

BELIEFS

Strong Leadership Leads to LIFE and productivity, not stagnation!

In all of my programs and masterminds throughout the year, and of course, in my individual coaching experiences, I focus on growth. I want to put God first in my life in every area or dimension of wellness. I want to serve others well as he Has called me. I want to hear Him say, “well done, good and faithful servant!” And it’s not selfish to understand that I need to attend to my own personal growth and take care of myself or I won’t be able to take care of or lead others. How do you do that?

  • Pray that God will build a hedge of protection around you and around those who lead you and around those whom you lead.
  • Ask Him to continually pour into your life so that you grow to be the leader He has called you to be.
  • Be intentional about growth as an individual and as a leader of others.
  • Put it on your calendar! Hmmm… Have you heard me say this before?!
  • Appoint strategic blocks of time in your day and in your week where you focus on growing in the Lord, growing as an entrepreneur, and growing as a leader.
  • Surround yourself with people who lead by God’s design.

Lord,

I pray for every entrepreneur/minister who will read these words, that they will be encouraged to make plans and allow You to establish their steps, that they will strive to be leaders who speak of You and Your Word and whose lives manifest Your presence and Your power as they imitate the faith of those who have gone before us. May we grow as leaders who set an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity. Keep us growing, GROWing, GROWING-unstuck, not stagnant!

AMEN!

The verses referred to in this prayer are Proverbs 16:9, Hebrews 13:7, and first Timothy 4:12 and were referred to in the first blog on leadership. Link to this blog here and link to it at the bottom of this second blog after the signature.

Strong Leadership Leads to LIFE, and Life  Means Growth!

As a NACWE group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/NACWEFreedom/ ), we spent 3 months learning to GROW as individuals and entrepreneurs and to TELL others about our offers (NACWE Classroom April, May, June 2019). SO MUCH FUN!

We learned that:

  • growth doesn’t just happen-you have to be intentional about it,
  • you have to know and be aware of who you are before you will experience significant growth,
  • you must see value in yourself and add value to yourself before you can add value to others,
  • it’s important to pause and reflect along the way and allow growth to catch up with you,
  • motivation gets you going and discipline keeps you growing,
  • it’s your responsibility to create an environment within which growth thrives,
  • you have to develop strategies to maximize growth,
  • bad experiences, when managed well, can lead to great growth,
  • your character growth determines the height of your personal growth,
  • growth stops when you lose the tension between where you are and where you could be,
  • you have to trade off some things to be able to receive things that help you grow,
  • growth is stimulated by asking why,
  • you have to find examples to follow because it’s hard to improve when you have no one but yourself to follow,
  • growth always expands your capacity, and
  • growing yourself enables you to grow others!

Learning Leadership from the Lord

The heart of man plans his way,

but the Lord establishes his steps.

Proverbs 16:9

Learning Leadership from the Lord is Crucial

Are you a leader?

You are a leader! You are leading someone by God’s design!

Maybe we could say, “You are never NOT leading!”

Now, where do you go to learn about leadership?

I want my leadership to be established by the Lord, don’t you!

So, let’s go to The LEADER together!

Learning Leadership from the Lord has been a wonderful journey for me!

Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God.

Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.

Hebrews 13:7

Leadership from the Lord

As an entrepreneur for the last 25 years, I’ve spent a lot of time searching out people from whom to learn leadership skills.

  • The John Maxwell Team-most recently! This is one of the greatest steps I’ve taken! Wish I hadn’t waited till now!
  • The Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur group (also recently)!
  • Dozens of awesome coaches and mentors and great examples, who “… …set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12, and
  • The PACKED classroom vault of my own organization – The {Inter} National Association of Christian Women Entrepreneurs [NACWE.org]/Mompreneurs

The list is long!

Learning Leadership from the Lord and Paul the Apostle

Most recently I decided that I would like to read through all the books of the Bible written by Paul chronologically!

I decided to read through those books of the Bible in John Maxwell‘s Leadership Bible!

I’ll be sharing things I learn as I grow because that’s what I do! I hope you do too!

Share what the Lord is teaching you with those you love and lead!

Learning Leadership from the Lord, the LEADER!

Do you go to the Bible for leadership lessons? It’s considered the greatest book ever written and John Maxwell believes it is the greatest book on leadership ever written! The Lord, our Leader, has been teaching us about leadership for thousands of years. Have we been listening?

Leadership from the Lord

Learning Leadership from the Lord

Will I ever learn? The best source, the greatest tool for life and livelihood is the Bible! If I will seek Him, He will change my life and the course of my development as a leader. Out of it, I can draw leadership principles that have been woven into it by God who Leads us! I’ll look at other sources, and I’ll listen to those He has placed in my life, but I desire to focus on Him First!

Learning Leadership from the Lord Together

Join me in taking these steps to being a godly leader:

  • Dive into God‘s Word every day.
  • Put it on your calendar! If I don’t block the time off for the most important time – time spent being quiet, in prayer, and seeking the Lord, the time that I have blocked off for other tasks is in vain!
  • Take an extra step and journal through what He is teaching you as you spend time with Him.
  • Along the way, ask Him to use this time to grow you to be a more godly leader of others.
  • Ask Him to place people in your life who will lead you with wisdom.
  • Share what you are learning with others! Share this article on social media, please!

Learning Leadership from the Lord – LEAD ON!

Use your Leadership gifts or ‘giftedness’ wisely:

Gifts of Grace – Romans 12

3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. 4 For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; 7 if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; 8 the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER!

You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER!

You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER!

Are you pooped? Are you tired? God will give what you need so that

You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! But you WILL Prosper!

Let’s look at Psalm 1 (ESV)

The Way of the Righteous and the Wicked

1 Blessed is the man

who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,

nor stands in the way of sinners,

   nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord,

and on his law he meditates day and night.

3 He is like a tree

   planted by streams of water

that yields its fruit in its season,

and its leaf does not wither.

In all that he does, he prospers.

4 The wicked are not so,

but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,

   nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;

6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous,

but the way of the wicked will perish.

You Will Not Fade! Pray that You Will Not WITHER!

Father God,

I so desperately want the joy and delight that comes from your law, from you, not from the frivolous daily fulfillments I receive. I understand that all good things have come from you and that it is right to take joy and delight in my grand-dorables and on our beautiful farm and in the successes of the Christian women entrepreneurs I coach!

But I want to work through the Psalms experiencing the joy and delight that only comes from you when I am in your word – meditating on it day and night!

I want to bear fruit each season! I’m thrilled that because of you my leaves never wither, and I prosper in all I do!

Thank you for watching over my paths, for I am sure, that left to my own direction, I would continually stumble and constantly need to redirect.

Amen

You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER!

What does it mean to wither? Or NOT to wither?!

When I go to http://biblestudytools.com and look in the Strong’s Concordance it defines the word wither as “fade” and “whatsoever.“ And it sends me to the following verses:

You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! But, You Will be BLESSED!

Psalm 128:2 “You shall eat the fruits of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.“

Dear Christian Woman Entrepreneur/Mompreneur,

You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.

Be BLESSED! Be WELL! (as Mary in Luke 1 was blessed)

In what ways do you need to ask the Lord to bless you today? For wellness today?

____________________________________________________________________________________

You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! So, Ask for Prayer.

Psalm 129:8 “…the blessing of the Lord be upon you! We bless you in the name of the Lord!“

Dear Sister,

You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.

The BLESSING of the Lord be upon you and those who pray for/with you!! (after the example of prayer warrior, Mother Teresa of Avila)

What prayer warrior/partner can you call to ask the Lord to bless you today? ____________________________________________________________________________________

You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! Indeed, You Will SUCCEED!

Genesis 39:3 “His (Joseph’s) master (Potiphar) saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord caused all that he did to succeed in his hands.

Genesis 39:23 “The keeper of the prison paid no attention to anything that was in Joseph’s charge, because the Lord was with him. And whatever he did, the Lord made it succeed.“

Dear Friend,

You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.

The Lord is with you! He causes ALL you do to succeed! (like Lydia Acts 16)

In what areas do you need to ask the Lord to cause you to SUCCEED today? ____________________________________________________________________________________

You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! AND You Will be Strong & Courageous!

Joshua 1:7 “Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.

Dear Christian Woman Entrepreneur/Mompreneur,

You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.

Be STRONG and COURAGEOUS! Be careful to do according to God’s law. (like Judge Deborah in Judges 4)

In what ways do you need to ask the Lord for strength and courage to take action today? ____________________________________________________________________________________

You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! Therefore, Meditate on His Word!

Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Dear Sister,

You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.

Meditate on His Word! (like Huldah in 2 Kings 22 & 2 Chronicles 34 who “decided what was holy Scripture)

In what ways do you need to ask the Lord to open His Word to you today? ____________________________________________________________________________________

You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! Now, Build His Kingdom.

1 Chronicles 22:11 “Now, my son (David), the Lord be with you, so that you may succeed in building the house of the Lord your God, as he has spoken concerning you.“

Dear Friend,

You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.

The Lord is with you! He will help you build as you do Kingdom work.

In what ways do you need to ask the Lord help you build His Kingdom today? (like Priscilla in Romans 16 and Acts 18)

____________________________________________________________________________________

You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! Always Seek Him.

2 Chronicles 31:21 “And every work that he (Hezekiah) undertook in the service of the house of God and in accordance with the law and the Commandments, seeking his God, he did with all his heart, and prospered.“

Dear Christian Woman Entrepreneur/Mompreneur,

You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.

SEEK Him! (like Hannah in 1 Samuel 1 & 2)

In what ways do you need to SEEK the Lord today? ____________________________________________________________________________________

You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! Exalt HIM; and you Will be Exalted.

2 Chronicles 32:23 “And many brought gifts to the Lord to Jerusalem and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah, so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations from that time onward.

Dear Christian Woman Entrepreneur/Mompreneur,

You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.

Be BLESSED! He will exalt you! (like Rahab in Joshua 6)

In what ways do you need to exalt the Lord, and ask the Lord to exalt you today? ____________________________________________________________________________________

You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! Now, Bear Fruit in your Work.

Isaiah 3:10 “Tell the righteous that it shall be well with them, for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds.“

Dear Christian Woman Entrepreneur/Mompreneur,

You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.

Be BLESSED; bear fruit through your actions! (like the Proverbs 31 Woman)

In what ways do you need to ask the Lord to lead you to bear fruit today? ____________________________________________________________________________________

You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER!

You Are a Writer

You Are a Writer

It used to be, a few decades ago, writers were only considered writers if they were published in print. This is no longer true in our digital age. There are all kinds of writers with all kinds of styles writing all kinds of things. Guess what, you are a writer!

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver. Proverbs 25:11 ESV

You are a writer.

Words are powerful. The power of life and death is in the tongue; while writing is not speaking, it is a form of communication with which you have power. You are a writer because you write. It doesn’t matter if you write in your journal, letters to friends, long email, poetry or short stories. Writers write. You need no other accomplishments of distinctions to let you know you are a writer.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. Proverbs 18:21

As a writer, you have a responsibility to use words carefully and intentionally. Once words are put out there, they are impossible to get back. Chances are if you have been writing for any length of time or even thinking about it, you know what you want to say – that is your voice.

You have a voice.

So we know you are a writer or that you want to be. You might be sitting scratching your head saying, “but Karen, I have nothing to write about.”

Yes, you do.

You have a voice. It might be the only way you can communicate your thoughts and feelings. You have a voice. It is the words that run through your mind when you are thinking about what you would have said or how you could have said something. It is the ending you rewrite for the movie you just watched. Or the way you would have liked the evening to go with your family. This is all part of your voice.

Your voice is not just a story to tell it is the way you tell the story. It is what you have to say.

You have a story to tell.

You have a story to tell. It is not just the events of your life or some tragedy you have overcome. Although your life is a great story, it is a story of weakness, strength, redemption and victory. We all have that story, but it doesn’t make it less special. You have something to say because your weakness is different than mine. Your victory came through various strengths and struggles. And your story is told in your voice, through your eyes, with your distinct way of speaking.

Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body. Proverbs 16:24

Everything you write will be unique to you because of your voice and story. We can see this best example of this is the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Every one of them has a bit of a different twist on the same adventure. This is the beauty of the diversity of story which God blessed us. Truth be told, I bet there is one gospel version of the story you like best because of the way it is told.

Your story is important.

Telling your specific story is important. It is all a testament to the grace of God in your life. It is all for the glory of God.

Your story is not about you. Does it benefit you? Absolutely. It can bring great healing to get your words out of your head. It is good for your spirit and your soul. It is good for your story to be witnessed by another. The point of telling your story is always about the goodness of God in your life. It is an act of praise and worship to let others know how God has come through for you.

And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. Revelation 12:11 ESV

Your story is for someone else. The things you have walked through overcome or are still struggling with are for someone else to hear. It is for you to tell and for them to learn. Your story might become the encouragement someone else needs not to give up. It might be a love letter from God to them, so they know He is listening. It might be the reader’s salvation. These are not things you may ever know or be told by another. Your responsibility is to tell your story honestly and with sincerity. The rest is up to God.

So know this as you move forward:

  • You are a writer.
  • You have a voice.
  • You have a story to tell.
  • Your story is important.

Move forward on your writing journey with confidence the world needs to hear what you have to say. It will not always be easy but it will be fun, and it will be worth it.

Blessing for New Writers

I bless you with the confidence to write your story. I bless you with picking the right words to glorify God and the work He has done in your life. I bless you with the supernatural understanding that your story is important. I bless your story with being seen by each individual that needs to hear what you have to say. I bless you with knowing that God has written your story and you are telling it.

Creativity – From Failure to Success

Creativity – From Failure to Success

Creativity – From Failure to Success

“An essential aspect of creativity is not being afraid to fail.” –Dr. Edwin Land

Failure is an essential part of success, as well as a fundamental aspect of creativity. It may be odd to consider failure as an essential part of success as indicated in the quote above by Land. But this is a Biblical truth as well as a fundamental aspect of creativity.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 ESV

I WILL FAIL

If you have ever undertaken a creative endeavor and failed, you know it feels like a calamity. For that matter, it may even look like one. During the creative failure, there are many thoughts which come. Among them, at least for me, is the thought that ‘I am a failure’, ‘I not creative,’ and most of all ‘I can’t do this.’

We live in a busy and self-sufficient society. Get it done. Do it quickly. Do it yourself, if you want it done right. You feel you are on your own. All your success depends on you. It is good to know that as a follower of Jesus, this is not the truth. The truth is you will fail but, BUT, there is grace.

STRENGTH IN WEAKNESS

As with so many biblical truths and principals in the kingdom of God, the idea that there is strength in weakness seems very contrary to our worldly view. Paul rejoices in his weaknesses, in his failures because that is where the “power of Christ rests upon him.”

He goes on to point out that when he is weak, it is then that Christ is able to be strong in him. We fight weakness when truly we should embrace it in order for Christ to be strong in us. How does this relate to creativity?

There is only one perfect Creator. We can only ask that God’s creative power work through us. Nothing that we create will ever reach the perfection of anything God has spoken into existence. However, this is not something to grieve. This is a fact to embrace. In your weakness or imperfection, the grace and creative power of God can manifest and make you strong.

I CAN DO ALL THINGS

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

I take great comfort in knowing I can do all things because it is Christ who gives me strength. He is the one who gives me the strength to breathe. He is the strength call upon get out of bed every morning and carry on throughout my day with the things He has gifted me to do. So, with all my creative projects – whether writing, painting, or business strategy, this is my prayer:

Lord, let me have a deep and full understanding that Your grace is sufficient for me. Let Your power and strength be made perfect in my weakness. Teach me to be content in all circumstances and even to rejoice in my difficulties because I know it is in these times of weakness You have become my strength and I can do all things because it is You who give me strength.

CREATIVITY!

FAILURE!

SUCCESS!

I encourage you to write you own prayer about weakness, failure, and taking on the grace and strength of Jesus in those times. Let me help you CREATE!

Blessings,

Karen Lindwall-Bourg
