Learning Leadership from the Lord
The heart of man plans his way,
but the Lord establishes his steps.
Proverbs 16:9
Learning Leadership from the Lord is Crucial
Are you a leader?
You are a leader! You are leading someone by God’s design!
Maybe we could say, “You are never NOT leading!”
Now, where do you go to learn about leadership?
I want my leadership to be established by the Lord, don’t you!
So, let’s go to The LEADER together!
Learning Leadership from the Lord has been a wonderful journey for me!
Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God.
Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.
Hebrews 13:7

As an entrepreneur for the last 25 years, I’ve spent a lot of time searching out people from whom to learn leadership skills.
- The John Maxwell Team-most recently! This is one of the greatest steps I’ve taken! Wish I hadn’t waited till now!
- The Kingdom Driven Entrepreneur group (also recently)!
- Dozens of awesome coaches and mentors and great examples, who “… …set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12, and
- The PACKED classroom vault of my own organization – The {Inter} National Association of Christian Women Entrepreneurs [NACWE.org]/Mompreneurs
The list is long!
Learning Leadership from the Lord and Paul the Apostle
Most recently I decided that I would like to read through all the books of the Bible written by Paul chronologically!
I decided to read through those books of the Bible in John Maxwell‘s Leadership Bible!
I’ll be sharing things I learn as I grow because that’s what I do! I hope you do too!
Share what the Lord is teaching you with those you love and lead!
Learning Leadership from the Lord, the LEADER!
Do you go to the Bible for leadership lessons? It’s considered the greatest book ever written and John Maxwell believes it is the greatest book on leadership ever written! The Lord, our Leader, has been teaching us about leadership for thousands of years. Have we been listening?

Learning Leadership from the Lord
Will I ever learn? The best source, the greatest tool for life and livelihood is the Bible! If I will seek Him, He will change my life and the course of my development as a leader. Out of it, I can draw leadership principles that have been woven into it by God who Leads us! I’ll look at other sources, and I’ll listen to those He has placed in my life, but I desire to focus on Him First!
Learning Leadership from the Lord Together
Join me in taking these steps to being a godly leader:
- Dive into God‘s Word every day.
- Put it on your calendar! If I don’t block the time off for the most important time – time spent being quiet, in prayer, and seeking the Lord, the time that I have blocked off for other tasks is in vain!
- Take an extra step and journal through what He is teaching you as you spend time with Him.
- Along the way, ask Him to use this time to grow you to be a more godly leader of others.
- Ask Him to place people in your life who will lead you with wisdom.
- Share what you are learning with others! Share this article on social media, please!
Learning Leadership from the Lord – LEAD ON!
Use your Leadership gifts or ‘giftedness’ wisely:
Gifts of Grace – Romans 12
3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. 4 For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; 7 if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; 8 the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
Blessings,

You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER!
Are you pooped? Are you tired? God will give what you need so that
You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! But you WILL Prosper!
Let’s look at Psalm 1 (ESV)
The Way of the Righteous and the Wicked
1 Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.
4 The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.
You Will Not Fade! Pray that You Will Not WITHER!
Father God,
I so desperately want the joy and delight that comes from your law, from you, not from the frivolous daily fulfillments I receive. I understand that all good things have come from you and that it is right to take joy and delight in my grand-dorables and on our beautiful farm and in the successes of the Christian women entrepreneurs I coach!
But I want to work through the Psalms experiencing the joy and delight that only comes from you when I am in your word – meditating on it day and night!
I want to bear fruit each season! I’m thrilled that because of you my leaves never wither, and I prosper in all I do!
Thank you for watching over my paths, for I am sure, that left to my own direction, I would continually stumble and constantly need to redirect.
Amen
You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER!
What does it mean to wither? Or NOT to wither?!
When I go to http://biblestudytools.com and look in the Strong’s Concordance it defines the word wither as “fade” and “whatsoever.“ And it sends me to the following verses:
You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! But, You Will be BLESSED!
Psalm 128:2 “You shall eat the fruits of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.“
Dear Christian Woman Entrepreneur/Mompreneur,
You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.
Be BLESSED! Be WELL! (as Mary in Luke 1 was blessed)
In what ways do you need to ask the Lord to bless you today? For wellness today?
____________________________________________________________________________________
You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! So, Ask for Prayer.
Psalm 129:8 “…the blessing of the Lord be upon you! We bless you in the name of the Lord!“
Dear Sister,
You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.
The BLESSING of the Lord be upon you and those who pray for/with you!! (after the example of prayer warrior, Mother Teresa of Avila)
What prayer warrior/partner can you call to ask the Lord to bless you today? ____________________________________________________________________________________
You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! Indeed, You Will SUCCEED!
Genesis 39:3 “His (Joseph’s) master (Potiphar) saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord caused all that he did to succeed in his hands.“
Genesis 39:23 “The keeper of the prison paid no attention to anything that was in Joseph’s charge, because the Lord was with him. And whatever he did, the Lord made it succeed.“
Dear Friend,
You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.
The Lord is with you! He causes ALL you do to succeed! (like Lydia Acts 16)
In what areas do you need to ask the Lord to cause you to SUCCEED today? ____________________________________________________________________________________
You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! AND You Will be Strong & Courageous!
Joshua 1:7 “Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.“
Dear Christian Woman Entrepreneur/Mompreneur,
You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.
Be STRONG and COURAGEOUS! Be careful to do according to God’s law. (like Judge Deborah in Judges 4)
In what ways do you need to ask the Lord for strength and courage to take action today? ____________________________________________________________________________________
You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! Therefore, Meditate on His Word!
Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.“
Dear Sister,
You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.
Meditate on His Word! (like Huldah in 2 Kings 22 & 2 Chronicles 34 who “decided what was holy Scripture)
In what ways do you need to ask the Lord to open His Word to you today? ____________________________________________________________________________________
You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! Now, Build His Kingdom.
1 Chronicles 22:11 “Now, my son (David), the Lord be with you, so that you may succeed in building the house of the Lord your God, as he has spoken concerning you.“
Dear Friend,
You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.
The Lord is with you! He will help you build as you do Kingdom work.
In what ways do you need to ask the Lord help you build His Kingdom today? (like Priscilla in Romans 16 and Acts 18)
____________________________________________________________________________________
You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! Always Seek Him.
2 Chronicles 31:21 “And every work that he (Hezekiah) undertook in the service of the house of God and in accordance with the law and the Commandments, seeking his God, he did with all his heart, and prospered.“
Dear Christian Woman Entrepreneur/Mompreneur,
You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.
SEEK Him! (like Hannah in 1 Samuel 1 & 2)
In what ways do you need to SEEK the Lord today? ____________________________________________________________________________________
You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! Exalt HIM; and you Will be Exalted.
2 Chronicles 32:23 “And many brought gifts to the Lord to Jerusalem and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah, so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations from that time onward.“
Dear Christian Woman Entrepreneur/Mompreneur,
You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.
Be BLESSED! He will exalt you! (like Rahab in Joshua 6)
In what ways do you need to exalt the Lord, and ask the Lord to exalt you today? ____________________________________________________________________________________
You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER! Now, Bear Fruit in your Work.
Isaiah 3:10 “Tell the righteous that it shall be well with them, for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds.“
Dear Christian Woman Entrepreneur/Mompreneur,
You will yield fruit and not wither. In all that you do, you prosper.
Be BLESSED; bear fruit through your actions! (like the Proverbs 31 Woman)
In what ways do you need to ask the Lord to lead you to bear fruit today? ____________________________________________________________________________________
You Will Not Fade! You Will Not WITHER!
To achieve levels of success worth celebrating, Work With Me!

Retreat to Write
Write on Retreat
When’s the last time you retreated:
- got away from it all,
- shifted gears,
- shifted focus,
- took care of yourself,
- wrote or worked?
Write Purposefully
There are so many wonderful reasons to retreat:
- Retreat to Pray (Psalm 42:1-2 – When your soul thirsts for the Lord, you can retreat to meet Him!)
- Retreat to Reconnect (Song of Solomon 2:10 – Rise up, my love, and come away…)
- Retreat to Rest (Psalm 62:5 – Find rest in God)
- Retreat to Restore and Refresh and Renew (Psalm 23:1-6 – verse 3 says, “He restores my soul!”)
- Retreat to Reflect and Remember (John 14:26 – The Holy Spirit brings God’s comforting words to our remembrance.)
- Retreat to Celebrate (Genesis 1:1-31 – every time God created something, He observed it and declared that it was good!)
- Retreat to Write and Work (Proverbs 16:3 – “Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”)
You could probably help me double this list!
Plan to Write
My first Writing Retreat was with Shelley Hitz of Author Audience Academy in beautiful Colorado. I trusted her expertise and followed her instructions “to a T!” She told us to come with a pretty solid outline, and I did! She encouraged us to stick to the structured schedule we would use for writing during the weekend, and I did! She encouraged us to write a rough draft and leave the heavy research for later, and I did!
I have attended a Writing Retreat at least once a year since that time and have been able to complete writing a book or program every time! I’ve held my own writing retreats and guided others through the same structured and successful process.
Write Strategically
I read the book the 12 week year by Brian Moran. It was a game changer for me. In it he encourages you to plan for 12 weeks instead of 12 months and focus on those 12 weeks to complete Your work. He suggests blocking off portions of time during your week:
- Buffer Blocks of time are best scheduled for about 30 minutes at a time throughout the week. They are set aside to take care of time consuming tasks that will help you really buckle down and get the bulk of your work done during the week-cleaning off your desk, catching up on answering emails, setting appointments.
- Breakout Blocks of time are usually about three or four hours. He suggests scheduling one of these blocks of time every week right in the middle of your work week-take a break, go to a movie, or meet a friend for lunch; do anything that breaks up a structured and scheduled work week and gives you a recharge.
- Strategic Blocks of time are my favorite! They are two or three hour blocks of time set aside strategically throughout your week where are you get rid of all distractions and focus on one strategic task at a time that will truly grow your business and ministry endeavors.
Write the Pomodoro Way
Pomodoro timed processes work best for me. In the National Association of Christian Women Entrepreneurs, we block off strategic blocks of 2 1/2 hours several mornings a week. We meet on Zoom and spend the first 15 minutes sharing prayer requests and goals for the day and praying for one another. We set the timer for 25 minutes of work followed by a five minute break, 25 minutes of work followed by a five minute break, 25 minutes of work followed by a five minute break, and a last 25 minutes of work. We spend the last 15 minutes sharing with one another how that process worked for us for that day and encouraging one another to commit our work to the Lord!
These sessions have been some of the most productive of my life! They’ve also allowed me to rub shoulders with some of the most amazing entrepreneurs I know. I don’t feel so alone, I feel tremendously blessed and encouraged; and while we are not an accountability group per se, I do want to tell them at the end of our sessions that I was productive!
When’s the last time you retreated:
- got away from it all,
- shifted gears,
- shifted focus,
- took care of yourself
- wrote or worked?
Join us on our next NACWE Lakeside Writing Retreat! Will usually schedule about three a year. Check out the dates and save them on your calendars!
Join us for our free work sessions and celebrate as we accomplish all that God has set before us in our entrepreneur endeavors and ministries!
Take some time for yourself to retreat – to rest, to restore, to connect, to write, to celebrate! Remember the old jingle? “You deserve a break today; so get up and get away, to…“
Don’t go to McDonald’s!
Retreat with us!
Let us help you with your Writing Projects!
Blessings,
Karen
