CRISIS:
An intense time of difficulty…
Requiring a decision…
That will be a turning point…
During times of great difficulty, we have some critical decisions to make. I hadn’t given myself much time to think about how the decisions we will make today could change so many courses for our lives tomorrow! I did consider that I need to challenge myself and those I work with to “invite God into every decision” we make during these trying times. I did not consider viewing each of these decisions proactively toward a turning point that will influence my/our futures! Until… I listened to John Maxwell’s response to our current challenge in a video titled “Leading Through Crisis.”
He used definitions from the dictionary and a medical dictionary and another source to come up with his own definition of crisis: “an intense time of difficulty requiring a decision that will be a turning point.”
Crisis to Turning Point… An intense time of difficulty…
- Yes, we are in the midst of an intense time of difficulty/crisis.
- We are reminded through Scripture and historical accounts that we have come through crises like this before!
- We can call on God during times like this because HE is Sovereign, Creator, All-Knowing, All-Present, and All-Powerful!

Crisis to Turning Point… Requiring a decision…
- We should invite God into every decision we need to make surrounding this time of difficulty.
- We should seek wise counsel from others – in my opinion, not the media but from medical crises organizations like WHO and the CDC – before we take action.
- We should make decisions that take into consideration Wellness as a whole. We love to use the acrostic B.E.L.I.E.F.S. for Wellness in all dimensions of life = body, emotions, livelihood, intellect, environment, family/friends, spiritual. And we should make decisions based on the Hope that God gives us.

Crisis to Turning Point… That will be a turning point…

Thanks to John Maxwell’s encouragement with his operational definition of crisis, we should consider each decision the Lord leads us to make in light of a desired turning point leading to a desired result! What decision do you need to make today?

Confirm Your Calling

Calm our fears and concerns, lead us to make wise decisions, teach us to consider how these decisions will lead to turning points/opportunities that affect our future and add blessing to all. May all we do during this time honor You and lead people to turn to You again and again.
